The prologue is done - five days of the Rallye du Maroc awaits

On Sunday, athletes participating in the Rallye du Maroc had to cover a 26-kilometer prologue and a total of 75 kilometers. CFMOTO Thunder Racing Team athlete Antanas Kanopkinas had a chance to overtake, drive really fast and also find a safe, marathon pace during this short stretch. Five working days are ahead, during which the participants will have to cover much more kilometers than today.

"There was some anxiety before the start, because I was one of the first to begin this stage. The first kilometers were quite easy to ride, as the dust was visible ahead, but it wasn't long before I caught up with the Argentinian who started in front. I had to fight for several kilometers until I found a safe place to overtake her. Then I went to my own competition. I pushed really hard for ten kilometers and switched into marathon mode for the last six. This means no sliding for the sake of the images for photographers, but a fast and safe pace", said A. Kanopkinas and mentioned that in marathon competitions it is not enough to just be fast.

After the prologue held in Marrakesh, the team drove almost 400 kilometers to the city of Zagora, where the first special stage will start. After setting up the camp at the new bivouac, team made a technical check of the quad before the first long stage.

On Monday, the participants have to cover as many as 500 kilometers, 272 of which will be the special stage. The organizers promise that in the first day, as much as 40 percent of the track will be driven on stones, the same distance driving on the soil and a fifth of the course in sand. Athletes will return to the same bivouac located in Zagora in the evening.
